I wonder if anyone out there has any descriptive information on e-cig side effects? Its a good thing to note that electronic cigarettes may in fact come with a risk of some side effects like a sore throat, headache, dry mouth and bad after-taste. In the scheme of things, this seems like a small price to pay to finally be able to successfully quit smoking and to be able to avoid the dangerous risk of lung cancer to ourselves and others.

Yes. I have experienced sore throat with my e-cig. but this was only because I was really sick, and didnt know it yet. SO, i blamed it on my PV.. we have to think about what the difference is in our body once we switch over. Smoking analogs, means we are smoking thousands upon thousands of chemicals, and stuff we dont even know about. So, our body has to get used to the change from that to just a few chemicals. I didnt go through the physical body switch. All i cared about was nicotine, and vapor. I can really truly say that e-cigs saved my life, and my family's lives. If I CAN make the switch, i Know others can. I am grateful to the person who invented them. God really helped that person save millions of people. I am grateful so much to God for helping me quit. Geesh. Such an AWESOME INVENTION, that helps save lives, and the FDA wants to knock us down on. NOt gonna happen. I wont quit e-cigs. Sorry.

The only time that I experienced a sore throat was in the mornings, right after I switched over to ecigs. I attribute this to the fact that, at that time, it was like a new toy and I was CONSTANTLY vaping on it. Once I tapered back down to my normal smoking habit (about a pack a day) it stopped, and I haven't had any problems since.

Lately I have had this sore throat/tightness feeling in my throat when I vape. Allthough I have been vaping lately like a chimney. I didn't vape at all today and the feeling went away. I got my new liquid and started vaping just an hour ago and I feel fine. I'm going to see how the night pans out.

But so far is this normal? And can it be attributed to a cold or something?
Or am I Vaping too much?

The sore throat is from vaping too much. The e-liquid is very dehydrating, and nicotine is caustic, so the combo of the two hitting the back of your throat too much will do that. Drink more / chew gum / anything to keep your mouth moist when you are vaping and it helps. I find that if I put my tongue up in front of the hole so it hits my tongue first, it helps some but then you run the risk of a sore tongue instead (had it happen a few times)

So far the side effects I have felt, and most are from when i vape too much are:
Sore throat/tongue/palette
Tightness in my neck/shoulders
Jittery / shakey hands
Minor Headache
Dry eyes / tiredness
Nausea
Dry Mouth
Sinus Congestion

Any cursory reading of PG's effects will show that it is an irritant. That's proving to be the case when inhaled 300 or more times a day by e-smokers. We were guinea pigs, and now some results are becoming known.

I wish I could spell it out, but I was asked not to. As soon as I can ...

Original question is: Does vaping cause phlegm?
These are post from another forum and thought it should be posted here, also. I hope the priginal poster does not mind as I did not ask permissions. I do thank him for the information.

Well I haven't had any noticeable side effects so far but i'm guilty of over doing it a bit especially after i've just received a new order of new flavors. New flavors tend to go through batteries like crazy but still no side effects, maybe because I always have a glass of ice water and drink probably two gallons of water a day. I'm no doctor but if you keep smashing your head against a wall every two minutes, then get a headache, maybe you shouldn't smash your head against the wall as much.... maybe only every ten minutes?

Dangit, every time I find something new to abuse, someone finds something wrong with it, lol.
arrowit, good analogy!
I hope in these studies, they are also including some non analog smokers so we will know the problem is with the PG/VG and has nothing to do with the cruddy black lungs of someone who has smoked for years.

I have smoked for about 33 yrs, Camel wides are my favorite, I have had smokers cough and some phlem for yrs! After a week of vaping I don't cough as much, and when I do cough it is a productive cough that doesn't linger.
I didn't start vaping because I needed a new habit, I started because e cigs are the absolute best alternative to analogs! I will be anxious to see these new studies when they are released, but in the meanwhile I will continue to work towards my goal, and will begin tapering off my nicotine consumption as planned.

This is great, and I highly endorse anyone trying to slowly work their way down. After letting my room mate try my 510, he immediately went to PEC and ordered a mega battery and all the parts for his own 510, as well as a bunch of terry's liquid in multiple strengths (to work his way down). I never intended to convert him, but between the two of us we have become an ecig endorsement machine. Good luck cutting back!

Yes. I have experienced it. I was a habitual smoker, with the help of e-cigarettes, I quit smoking totally and I haven't experienced any side effects.

I think there are many side effects of Electronic cigarette. Once you take to quit smoking electronic cigarettes can be equally difficult. Over time, electronic cigarettes can become a dangerous addiction. Giving these up can result in mood disorders. However, electronic cigarettes have the same ingredient, nicotine, with the difference that is in a vaporized form. As a result, smokers who get more addicted to the use of snuff products.

I am a........... well let's just say a heavy vaper. I did have a tiny soar throat when I started but that was solved by drinking water. As for the post above mine, well let me tell you first off I did not want to quit smoking. I wanted a less deadly option. I smoked atleast 2 packs of analog cigs a day and now I vape. You do the math on how much less poison is in my body. I can tell you that my Dr.s have both said my lungs are great now. I have CHOSEN to lower my nic levels over the past year because I wanted to. I am still vaping 12mg juice and plan to continue. The good part is no more second hand smoke for my family, better lungs for me, food tastes better, I have more energy, and my clothes & house smell better.

This is a choice we make for ourselves and our loved ones. We didn't say it was not an addiction. But you have to admit it is better than smoking.

I wish the FDA was this fixated on Alcohol.

I was curious if anybody has had achy stiff joints since they switched to vaping. I read that our body processes the pg/vg and it settles in the body as lactic acid, similar to how after you exercise and are sore the next day due to build up of lactic acid in the muscles. I've been vaping since last August, and I've noticed that my elbows, hips and heels have developed soreness and I can't help but think that it's related to the lactic acid being produced from vaping. Anybody else notice these types of symptoms?
Today I thought about taking an epsom salt bath which breaks lactic acid up...just to see if that helps, then I'll know if that's what's causing it.

It surely won't keep me from vaping altogether though, the side effect is better than side effects from smoking analogs. I am a regular (not heavy, but heavier on the weekends) vaper. Just thought I'd check in to see if you guys have noticed the same type of side effects.

All I can say to the "scientific evidence" that vaping causes phlegm production is this: there are far fewer health risks and side effects from vaping than from smoking analogs! What do these folks think smoking analogs does?? Actually, my smokers cough is now completely gone after switching to vaping only 3 months ago! I did have a sore throat for a day or two after I first started vaping, but not as bad as those days when i'd smoke too many cigarettes. By switching from analogs to vaping, you're eliminating dozens of chemicals that are KNOWN carcinogens, so to me, it's a no-brainer! :)

I don’t have any experience about that but I have little faith in some of the stories, according to them e-cigs is quite effective to smoke because it doesn’t make any adverse effects on health as well it is quite economical too.

:D
